3.7cm Flak 36-37

Post by Sturm78 » 26 Mar 2011 13:12

Hi all,

I have some questions about these weapons.
According to my information, the only difference between both weapons was the sight. The FlaK 36 used the Flakvisier 35 or 36 to sight the gun.1 When Zeiss developed a newer sight, the Flakvisier 37, the gun became the FlaK 37.

Does anyone have some close up images of these sights?

On the other hand, I found these curious images of a 3.7cm Flak 36-37 gun.....in static position. 8O
I never had seen this. Was this a special variant? :?

Thank you for your images, Jopaerya.

But I think the second image shows a standard mobile 3.7cm Flak 36-37

Hi Sturm.
Thank you ever so much for the pictures. This has plagued Research Gruppe Grove for years. We had the foundation in several places, but we had no photographic proof of the gun. Please see:
http://www.gyges.dk/fliegerhorst_grove1 ... 20Flak.htm
and I may have to do some re-writing.

Hi all,

Ummmhhh... Interesting image.
I think the base of your gun is not the standard triangular base. I think it seems the base of an RRH sound locator. 8O :?

Any idea??

Great observation, Sturm78 ! I was wondering what this special mounting was when I saw the picture on ebay. :D

The guns could have been removed from damaged Flak-carrying vehicles and placed on these ad-hoc mountings.

Several 3,7 cm Flak 36 or 37 were mounted on static positions (see some previous pictures on this thread). The bolted base on Jos' picture is the same.

Hi all,

I return to my initial question, again:

According to my information, the only difference between 3.7cm Flak 36 and Flak 37 guns was the sight. The FlaK 36 used the Flakvisier 35 or 36 to sight the gun.1 When Zeiss developed a newer sight, the Flakvisier 37, the gun became the FlaK 37.

I found this image on Ebay. Can somebody identify this sight?? :?

Any aditional picture of these sights will be welcome, since otherwise it is impossible to differentiate between both guns.

Thanks in advance. Sturm78

It's the Flakvisier 36 in the two last posts.
The Flakvisier 37 was a big, box-like device with a protruding tubular lens - it can be seen in the 1st and 2nd posts in this topic.
But the 3,7 cm Flak 37 could also use the Flakvisier 40, which was looking rather similarly to the Flakvisier 36 - so some care is needed during identification. :)
