Good question. That "crank thru the bumper" detail is something I've only seen on the heavier M-B lorries. By comparison here is another M-B Mannschaftwagen, based on the L 2500 I think.

thank You very much for Your reply. You are right, the Mercedes-Benz Polizei-Mannschaftswagen is based on the type L 2500. Unfortunately thre is no pic of the other Polizei-Mannschaftswagen in the book "Mercedes-Benz Lastwagen und Omnibusse " by Werner Oswald. Could You, please, post a pic of a M-B vehicle with the "crank thru the bumper" detail, which You have only seen on the heavier M-B lorries?
Here another pic of this Polizei-Mannschaftswagen. Interesting, that there were two spare wheels at the back of the vehicle.

thank You very much for Your reply. But I don´t think that it is a heavy Mercedes-Benz truck. The Mercedes-Benz Polizei-Mannschaftswagen were based on the chassis from Lo 2000/ L 2000 to Lo 3000/L 3000. Often they had the designation O, for example here a pic of the type O 3000, because they had a bus chassis.

I appreciate your comment, but I believe we misunderstood each other. I wasn't saying that the Polizei vehicle in question was a heavy truck. Obviously it is either a light or medium lorry, no doubt less than 3 ton. The wheels alone tell us that. My point was that I have never seen a bumper like that on a M-B lorry smaller than the 6500. If anyone has a pic of one I'd love to see it.
Anyway thanks, Bert for the excellent pic of that larger Polizei wagen based on the O 3000 bus.

excuse me, please, for my misunderstanding. You are right, that´s really a special bumper. Here another, more modern Mercedes-Benz Polizei-Mannschaftswagen for 22 - 27 policemen (1937), type O 2600 (source: Werner Oswald: Mercedes-Benz Lastwagen und Omnibusse").

thank You very much for Your reply, my friend. You are right, that a man without a library is indeed a man in need of friends, but also a man with a library is in need of friends.
Here two pics of another Mercedes-Benz Polizei-Patroullienwagen (police patrol vehicle), the type O 2500 in 1932 (source of the pic: "Die Kraftfahrzeuge der Polizei und des Bundesgrenzschutzes" by Werner Oswald.

Very similar to MWF (Magdeburger Werkzeugmaschinenfabrik AG).
