Hi Aleks!

Yes, all of those 40 mm guns were UK 2 pounders, except one on NB-11. I think that this one was Czech Škoda, but I`am not 100% sure. If someone can help I would be thankful.

Hi Engine Capo,

do photos other than the last one also come from "Paluba" forum? Stating the source for ship data would also be great. Thanks,

Hi Gaius

Source for ship data came from Military Encyclopedia book V, pages 691-694 and Kažimir Pribilović book "Naoružani brodovi mornarice NOVJ" ( Armed ships of NOVJ navy). Pictures are scanned from the his book, except last one, wich was taken from Paluba.info forum ( as you can see).

Best regards Engine capo.

Apart from NB there were also patrol boats ( Patrolni Čamci) in Partizan navy. Officialy there was 57 boats, but true number is 69. This is possible becouse tactical numbers of boats repeated in some cases. Out of 69 PB-s 14 was lost during the war: 5 sunk by Luftwaffe, 1 by RAF, 1 by German coastal artillery, 1 was destroyed in fuel explosion, 1 in ammunition explosion and 4 captured by Germans. Due to lack of technical information about smaller boats, I will post what I have.

It is Skoda gun – 40mm Z1 dual-purpose gun. I’m not sure haw it was called in Yugoslav service (something like “40mm M.1929”). Two years ago we had a very interesting discussion about this & other Skoda Naval guns used on Yugoslav ships: :) http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=157514

Thanks to your photo I’m now positive what happened on two 40mm AA guns in single mounts, taken from destroyer “Dubrovnik” when Italians changed its armament. :D (Btw, these captured guns were labeled by Italians as 40/71 - cann.mitr.c.a. Skoda).

Once upon a time NB-11 „Crvena Zvijezda“ was the „star“ at one of AHF quizes: 8-)

Thank you The Edge. :)

Same type of guns were on seaplane tender Zmaj, later Drache. So far I have only seen dual mountings of this weapon.
