Angola 1976: The white mercenary walking in the front seems to be the same man than the one at wheel in the previous photo. Observe the faces: Col. Hi,
Many portugues ex-colonial soldiers stayed in Angola and became mercenaries working for UNITA or FNLA. This guy should have been in FNLA files, but he looks more Cuban to me. Lieutnant Fernando Calistrat from Romania. Curious, Also note the first class iron cross. Mercenary Gerry Moggach from Scotland. Lieutenant Roy Larsen from Sweden. I wonder what commando and what could like the beret insignia.

Daniel Francisco Roxo (the white devil of Niassa), a legend full of facts and fiction. Roxo was born in 1933 in northeast Portugal. He emigrated to Mozambique in the early ´50s and worked there first as a civil servant. Later he became a big game hunter in Niassa Province. in ´60s his aims started to fight against FRELIMO (a communist-supplied) which was starting to destroy his way of life. Roxo offred his services to the Portuguese army, first as tracker, then as leader of an irregular band of 90. Hr was the only white man in the unit. His own autonomous unit was called the coluna infernal (column from hell). His unit is claimed to kill more FRELIMO members than the whole Portuguese army. He died stepping on landmine few months after when Mozambique got it independence 1976.
Roxo was not exactly a mercenary, because he didn´t fight for money, but more like a soldier of fortune. A portuguese Rolf Steiner. Source: Soldier of Fortune magazine, october 1979 Source:laultimaguerra.wordpress.com Source: comandosdeaveiro.blogspot.com

Jorge Jardim, a wealthy business, who had comercial interest in Mozambique organized a group of 1000 mercenaries together his daughter Carmo, a qualified parachutist. Here a photo of her together with black members of Portugues parachute unit. Unluckily the text doesn´t mention the year.

Hi bronk7,
The city of Lima (Lima metropolitana) is quite big. 10 millions habitants, is divided in districts, which are correctly cities themselves. One of these is Callao, where is Peruvian Naval base. The officers academy/school is in Chorillos district.
with best regards
