7.5 cm KwK 40 L/43 vs. L/48
A short technical question on the above. Given PzIV turret weight/specs, were the addittional stresses induced by the heavier, longer L48 compared to the L43 trivial, or not?

Since both 7,5 cm Kw.K. 40 L/43 & L/48 used the same cartridges and had the same normal recoil of 480 mm it is entirely possible that the slightly heavier L/48 had lower firing stresses both through the slightly added weight and the fact that muzzle brakes typically increase in efficiency at higher muzzle velocities.

Markus, thank you. Still with a heavier and longer gun, wouldn't there be increased stresses on the turret ring during travel (leading for example to more jams)?

According to Datenblätter für Heeres-Waffen, -Fahrzeuge und -Gerät the L/43's total weight was 670 kg and the L/48's 750 kg. Maybe the 80 kg weight increase necessitated adjusting the gun's balancing gear but the procentual increase in turret weight due to the new gun must have been quite negligible.
