Re: ► Photothread: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Hi Sturm 78,
to Your questions:
the motorcycle on the first pic You posted could be a BMW type R 71, the typical motorcycle with sidecar, but the type R 61 was identical in appearance.
You are totally right, the motorcycle on the second pic is a Zündapp type K 500 W.
Best regards
Bert

Re: ► Photothread: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Bert, nice and rare photo...
Several polish "Sokół" Big-Twins were for sale in the 1980s, in most times converted the "Choppers", and other nonsense...
Sokół (Motorrad) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokół_(Motorrad)
Photos: https://www.google.com/search?q=sokol++ ... era&hs=k0s
Called the "Polish Indian" also, if I remember correctly, it's been too long ago...
The asking price for these motorcycles was then an appel and an egg, very cheap, those days are over.
Hans
P.S. Enlarged and adjusted the photo a little bit, not much was possible, sorry.

Re: ► Photothread: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Thanks Bert,
nobody wanted to buy a polish "Sokół" in these years, the bikes came over from Poland, most of them restored with everything
what was av. in Poland back them, russian spare parts in very bad quality.
1000,- to 1500,- german Mark at that time, for a still running Sokół Big-Twin.
The same with the Zündapp sidecar bikes, the BMW R75 models, etc.
"Polnische Restauration" was the topic, long ago...
Times changed...
I bought several Zündapp KS 750 Gespanne long ago, traded all of them for vintage Harleys and Indian motorcycles.
A mistake, for sure.

Thanks Bert,
nice video, and the sidecar model a real beauty !
For sure, it was a mistake, not to buy one or another of the "Polish Indian" Big-Twins in earlier years.

Re: ► Photothread: Motorcycles of Wehrmacht
Hello all,
I was not sure if this was for identification or just an interesting 'bike, so I have put it here. Obviously a captured or impounded piece, I have no idea of the identity of the curious inline twin.
Kerry.

@ arminfreitag,
three nice photos of a NSU "OSL" from you in this thread again, very nice bikes, still in the 1970s cheap stuff for very small money.

Hi Kerry,
the motorcycle on Your pic could be an Austrian Puch type 500 VL. Here a pic of this type. And another pic with the sidecar, but with the type 800.
Best regards
Bert
