Re: The J./ 88 of the Legion Condor (1936-39).
I have following related to Bf 109 losses:
Oberfeldwebel Leo Siegmund - according to his report about being POW, incident happened on 5. December 1937. Become free on 9. July 1938.
Feldwebel Otto Polenz, who made landing on enemy side with 6-15 on 4. December 1937 was freed on same day.
Leutnant Lutz made forced landing NO La Cenia after air combat, plane damage was estimated 85-90%, pilot lightly wounded.
Probably on 9. September 1938 another Bf 109 made forced landing after air combat N Gandesa. Plane damage was estimated 50%, pilot unhurt.
Probably on 27. September 1938 was Leutnant Tietzen wounded in air combat with Rata and made forced landing 1 km NO Gandesa. Plane type not given.
Bertram was shot down about 16:20 o'clock, N of Garcia (4 km N Mora la Nueva), pilot landed with parachute on enemy side.
On same day one Bf 109 was totally destroyed on land in bombing of aerodrome La Cenia.
Probably on 10. October 1938 Oberleutnant Gamringer made forced landing after air combat, pilot has light wound (in air combat he claimed Martin-Bomber).
On 5. November 1938 Bf 109 (6 - 42) made forced landing after air combat near Tortosa. Plane total loss, pilot Gefreiter Nirminger wounded.
On 3. December 1938 one Bf 109 was shot down near Chiva, 30 km W Valencia, probably by Curtiss. Pilot Uffz. März (Walter?) bailed out and was captured by enemy.
On 30. December 1938 one Bf 109 was lost near Lerida. Pilot Uffz. Kolb bailed out and landed on own side.
Leutnant Böttischer crashed SW Mollet, pilot died soon after this in hospital in Barcelona. Reason of crash not known.
Body of Feldwebel Windemuth was found some days after loss and it was claimed he had heart shot.
