I'll have to check my file on it. It has been in the US Army Infantry Museum collection since the end of WWII and was just transferred to Air Defense last year. It will eventually go on display as part of our MANPADs exhibit, but that is a bit down the road. We need a museum building first!

As can be judged from present and wartime photographs, all combat Luftfausts were painted in this fashion.
But this 'new' piece seems to have a little bit better preserved cammo than the Russian one.

Other than the fact that it was donated to Ft. Benning in 1978 from the museum at Carlisle Barracks, PA, I have not gotten anything on its provenance. It was transferred here from Benning last year and the property jacket has not caught up with it. I've just sent the powers that be a request for the property jacket.

Sturm78,

A discussion about this rocket launcher started here in 2010:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=170642

It appears that it is a 15 cm rocket launcher on a not quite identified carriage.

Looks like one and a half Panzerwerfer 42 on a Raketenwerfer 56 carriage. Wonder if it's a field modification or a more official prototype.

Yes, it obviously is a 30 cm R-Werfer 56 carriage, complete with elevation and traversing gears - just the launcher block is changed.

Thank you for your help.

So, it is not sure if this is a German wartime conversion or not ??

As far as I'm aware, nothing is known about this particular launcher (on display in a Russian museum today).
