ca. 1944-1952 by Felix Lembersky a Russian/Soviet painter later dissident.

Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 13, Op. 113, Adagio "Babi Yar", text by Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
Leaves - we cannot have,
Sky - we cannot have,
But there is so much we can have -
To embrace tenderly in a darkened room.

"They're coming!"

"Don't be afraid, those are the booming sounds
Of Spring itself. It's coming here.
Come to me,
Quickly, give me your lips!"

"They're breaking the door!"

"No, it's the ice breaking..."

Tatyana "Tanya" Markus was a Soviet underground fighter of Jewish origin executed at Babi Yar after five months of the most horrible tortures.
Known as Tatyana Markusidze, a daughter of a Georgian prince executed by the Bolsheviks, she is credited with bombing a Nazi military parade in Kiev, and killing a dozen or so German officers (some of them lured by her legendary beauty) by poison or gun.
