In finnish the item is a "tähtäyspylväs", a sighting mount perhaps in english.
It was a part of the fire control system, the sighting mount was used in finding the target and tracking it.
The mount gave the target movement, side and height angles that were transfered to the actual predictor.
The system also needed range finder and at some models a separate speed indicator.viewtopic.php?f=12&t=133519&start=1035
Umhhh...I have several questions about this device.
First, What was the country of origin of this device? What model of gun was used with this equipment?
Second, I do not understand the functioning. I've always thought that the fire direction of a AA battery consisted of a calculator or predictor that could have integrated the rangefinder (as in the case of German Kdo.Ger.36) or mounted separately (as in the Kdo.Ger.35) and this predictor sent the information to the guns for aiming.
However, it seems that in this case this device served to detect and track the targets and then pass the information to the predictor, which in turn sent the information to the guns, no ??
Did the Germans have a equivalent of this device in their AA batteries?
