Does anyone know what the official policy was regarding items aquired from German POW's, namely Soldbuchs?
I suspect that many of the US Soldiers assigned to the camps smuggled them out and that is how most made it to the market.
I am interested in obtaining Soldbuchs for a few relatives.
Thanks,
Chris

Soldbuchs
Unless your relatives still possess them, the likelihood that you will find your relatives' Soldbuecher is remote. German POWs were processed out of Allied internment camps and retained their Soldbuecher -- in many instances the only means of identification that many of them possessed.

I just asked my grandfather again yesterday to verify, and he said his was absolutly taken away and not returned upon release from the POW camp.
That's why I thought there would be a remote chance to aquire it.
I wish there was a website to track atifacts that people posesse and who they origianly belong to! That would help in finding family artifacts.
