Jos,

According to the German document of June 21, 1944 that you posted here:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 1#p1642091

sAA 763 operated in the Caen sector but a more accurate location is not indicated.

Here are pictures of 17 cm K18 that would have belonged to sAA763 if it is confirmed that these pictures were taken in the Caen sector.

Thanks Emmanuel

I know that orders changed a lot in that time but it looks to me that the initial order was
to place then in the area of the 711 and 346 I.D. east of the Orne ( sector Caen )

Here a other picture of this P.K. photo http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... Karten.jpg

Hello Jos & Emmanuel

i think the document dated June 21th 1944 is not a "Istzusatnd of locations/current locations" - its just a list of "planned distribution and summary" of Heeresartillerie (named "Zuteilung" not "Einsatzort")

i dont know the exactly data of 763, but for some units of the list i can demonstrate that they were just "in Zuführung"

leichte Artillerie-Brigade (mot.) 704 (861, 934, 151, 625)
24.6.1944 – Ob.West meldet als Zuführungsort für leichte Heeres-Artillerie-Brigade 704 mit kriegsgliederungsmäßig unterstellten Heeres-Artillerie-Abteilungen (mot.) 861, 934, 151 und Heeres-Artillerie-Batterie (mot.) 625 sowie Heeres-Artillerie-Abteilung (mot.) 628 den Raum Conde südlich Noireau – die Brigade soll geschlossen beiderseits Caumont eingesetzt werden
so these units cant be at Caumont at June 21th 1944
1.7.1944 - Heeres-Artillerie-Batterie (mot.) 625 im Raum 30km südöstlich Paris (still in Zuführung)

Hello
What does the abbreviation "röm." stand for in your document from 15.6.1944?
Thanks

"röm." stands for "römisch" meaning it is actually a Roman numeral, not Arab. It is commonly used when transmitting messages. It tends to be more practical and also limits the risk of typos or confusion. When regular documents are produced the official roman numerals are typically used.

In this case röm. 81.A.K. stands for LXXXI.A.K.
