Type IX
Re: Type IX
hi,
Picture from EBAY.
I have looked at this picture for many hours now,
i think i have solved the mystery boat on left.
The boat in front with the Turmumbau II,U 518(Friedrich-Wilhelm Wissmann),this was the easy boat.
The boat on left,U 530(Kurt Lange).
Both boats returning from an unsuccessful patrol,
arrival in Bordeaux on 03-07-1943.
Have a look.
my best regards,
Ron.

Re: Type IX
Hi there,
good job as far as U 518 is concerned. However, the boat in the background is U 180. Photograph taken during destroyer escort on 1 or 2 July 1943. Anyway, very nice pic indeed!
Best wishes
Axel

Re: Type IX
hi guys,
I am looking at these two IX`s for many weeks now,and i have NO idea.
picture 1.
picture 2.
I think this is the same boat, but i am not sure.
picture 3.
Same location as shown in picture 1,we see here an He 115 seaplane and a 8,8 cm deck gun.
I think this is Horten or Trondheim(Norway),my best guess........U 501 Hugo Förster.
Any thoughts about these two boat(s).
my best regards,
Ron.
