Where to buy Third Reich music?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and still a bit of a noob, and I have some questions about Music Of The Reich.

-What's so special about this music? Is it propaganda music, or regular music written by regular musisians?
-Can I buy this music in a regular store, or do I have to buy it from the internet?

Welcome to the forum. You have to buy it by internet no doubt about it, I have never seen Third Reich Music in a regular store! The majority of those songs is propaganda music and I really enjoy it.

well it depends on how you define Third Reich Music

music written in germany under the rule of the nazis can be

a.) propaganda or pure nazi party music (sold like bad porno on the net or under the table)
b.) regular music of the army like marches etc... (easy to purchase in stores, many historic records available)
c.) "pop music " of the thirties and forties ...Those "Schlager" are even re recorded nowadays and are apolitical.
d.) "classical music" of people like Richard Strauss, Carl Orff etc... who just lived during that age and did what they had done under whatever gouvernment ruled in germany
e.) "forbidden" music like german swing (thought "ungerman or negroid" by the authorities
f.)music of the resistance, like the moving songs from the concentration camps

i am afraid most people here are only interested in the first two categories :

I advise you against buying on that site because their CDs are made up of mp3s taken from the Internet. Quality and information are consequently poor. You can find a few marches and songs on the Internet or on emule for example to get started.

You won't find CDs of Nazi/NSDAP music because those 78 RPM cost several hundreds of Euros and even thousands sometimes but you can find very interesting CDs (see the CD & LP reviews topic).

I live in the UK. Is Tomahawk recommended for German Military music on CD? The reason I ask is because I've just read an interesting thread about them and read the comments by the man behind it, Brian Mathews, which to be honest, doesn't fill me with much confidence as to whether I'm getting the real deal. For a start, it seems that the music is produced on inferior CD-Rs, and without informative linear notes and cheap packaging let alone the exorbitant prices.

A link was provided to Brandenburg Historica. Their music is produced on proper pressed CDs and come with informative note booklets.Thing is though,they're in the US and I'm not sure if they'll ship outside to the UK. I've tried filling in an online registration form but I cannot enter a province, naturally. I've emailed them and await a response.

In the meantime, is there anywhere else you can recommend because I've Googled without success. This is after all a niche market for this kind of thing.

You can try http://www.deutschemarschrevue.com where you'll find a lot of german military music and songs to download with also good postwar recordings. I'm also a regular customer of http://www.zinnfigur.com They are located in Berlin and they send Cds all over Europe. I bought to them all Brandenburg Historica productions and also "Documentary Series" Cds. When I tried to buy directly from Brandenburg Historica I was annoyed by french customs for a problem of taxes I had to pay to get the Cds.

Hi,

They are however just marches and no singing.

There is another site that does have music with singing for free to download but there are two downsides.
1. The site is in Spanish. But if you scroll down to the song list you would like and click on the blue "Descargar" they will download.

2. It is, I think, a neo Nazi site and if I am breaking any rules by posting a link to it I apologize but it does contain great free third Reich music.

@"stringbean" There's enough written (but there will be more) about the scams of "Tomahawk Films" and similar "companies", so let's not repeat everything here. There are two topics now dealing with such issues, there is no need for a third one.

@"Oberleutnant von Bostell" Please read the topic title: "Where to buy Third Reich music?" It's not "Where to download Illegally Third Reich music?". Legal Third Reich music can be found shared for free by original record collectors on youtube (search for videos with original record label scans and original discographical info - ignore those without the label scans - they are usually scams) and on only a few legal collectors' websites, such as dismarc.org for example (again, shared together with the label scans). This topic was partially covered here. Now let's get back on the topic, please.
