Von...do you have any idea where that remote cabin might be?Von Odine wrote:Speer's boyhood/retirement home is still standing, I think it is in Heidelberg. It was designed by his father, also an architect, and somewhat remodled by Speer after Spandau. I have heard that Speer also bought and totally remodled a remote mountain cabin, no where near Obersatzberg, during his final decade.
I have always wondered that myself....Has anyone ever tried to locate the houses in America that Speer designed pro-bono for GIs during the Spandau years?
I suspect that it is, but cannot find proof to that effect...being the oldest, one would think Jr. would possibly have been the executor of the will, or at least co-executor with Hilde, and was probably bequeathed the Haus Speer...I wonder if the "private hands" that possess the Haus Speer on Obersalzberg are those of Albert Speer the Younger?
Von...do you have any links to info that would show his home? I have seen many photos of the other leaders' homes, but never Ley's...I would be interested in seeing some period interior and exterior photos of his house....Von Odine wrote:Robert Ley's home, Nazi murals, swastika windows and all, still exists in Berlin.
I have no photos.. I saw it and Frank's house in the 1990s video "Ruins of the Reich" and/or "Ruins of the Reich II"Von...do you have any links to info that would show his home? Hmmm ... I'm thinking that looks more like Bormann's house, especially the lay of the land. Not 100% certain - I can't find any pics that show that exact same angle of Bormann's house. (excuse the quality of these two pics)Johnnyrocket wrote:Hermann W. Goering's house in 1954 being destroyed. I have never seen this one before. Nice vintage image.
