Re: Type VII
Hi Axel,
Thank you very much, much appreciated .
I am having trouble with this boat.
This boat is listed in my archive as, U 393 commissioned on 03-07-1943 in Howaldtswerke AG, Kiel.
Boat 1.
First commander Alfred Radermacher ??????.
Seen here as Lieutenant-Junior (Leutnant zur See), he was promoted to Lieutenant-Senior (Oberleutnant zur see) on 01-07-1943,
two days before he commissioned the new U 393, is there something wrong, or do i miss something ??.
Boat 2.
Same location, is this the U 394 ??????.
my best regards,
Ron.

Hi Ron

Re U 232..........Ziehm has (had) better teeth than Wilzer. Had only one foto of 232 so thanks for posting. Have good foto of 363 showing emblem.
Re U 394 please be aware that Unterhorst was in Luftwaffe so would have that badge on his uniform.
Regards and thanks for posting.

Re: Type VII
Hi Ron,
the Kriegsmarine was no just in time club. The promotion of Radermacher went by post to his flottilla, which finally informed him about verbally. So by the time he commissioned U 393, he was probably not yet aware of it. That is why ke still displayed one stipe.
The photo 2 is clearly not U 394, but shows U 475 after commissioning.
Again, nice pics. Thanks so much.
Best
Axel

Re: Type VII
Hi Axel and Nobby,
Thanks alot, very interesting, two different boats build by two different shipyards
commissioned on a same location. Never seen this before.
Cheers my friends.
U 976, sunk on 25-03-1944 in the Bay of Biscay south-west of St. Nazaire.
Does anyone know who found this U-Boat and when ??.
I think a French diving team but don`t speak French.
Wartime pics.
Commander Raymond Tiesler fourth from the left ???.
Lt.z.S. Wilhelm Heinrich.
Found !!!!!!!.
Hope you like these.
my best regards,
Ron.
