General Gouvernment Warschau

Post by sylvieK4 » 12 May 2003 16:19

Does anyone have any information about the German "General Gouvernment Warschau" directed by General Hans von Beseler during the First World War?

What was the nature of its relationship with the Polish population? (Was it largely welcomed, or hated?)

What was its function? (i.e Did it provide food and other necessities to the population, or did it act mainly as a policing force to keep order?)

What powers did the General Gouvernment Warschau have?

What was its full jurisdiction (Geographic boundaries)?
