Mystery Maybachs

#1

Post by kerryboo » 11 Sep 2016, 12:27

Hello all,
A recent post by PiretBCN, concerning car types used by prominent Nazis, raised the subject of Maybach cars. I am hoping that somebody can identify the occupants of these examples. I realise that there is not a lot to go on, but perhaps somebody has seen other views of the same vehicles in use?
Thanks in anticipation,
Kerry.

I will take a wild swing and say number 2 is Kurt Daluege sitting in front passenger of Pol 1. I wonder if the SS and polizei section could help Verify ID?

Hi shamirnewell,

Thank you for input, I have updated my archive entries.

It is interesting to note the different cars on which the Pol-1 registration was fixed. It makes sense for it to been the car of the top man in the Police, or his official representative, so a "personalised registration".

Thanks again,

Kerry.

Wilhelm Frick Interior Minister is the passenger in 3 shots thin man shaking hands in leather coat. These were in Sudetenland.

In your original picture he might be rear passenger. Although I get the feeling that main passenger is Daluege. He was a big guy in stature.

The Maybach SW 38 Erdmann & Rossi Transformations-Cabriolet from Generaloberst Eduard Dietl.
The Picture shows the car in Finnland 1942.

These pictures show the car of Julius Dorpmüller. A Maybach DS 8 "Zeppelin" Erdmann & Rossi Pullman-Cabriolet.

Thank you for those pictures. A huge car, and a rather elegant body for a Maybach. Btw, in 1936 Erdmann&Rossi built a very similar body on a Rolls-Royce chassis for Mr. Curt Elschner, the owner of the "Excelsior", the biggest hotel in Berlin.
GFM von Blomberg also had a Maybach Zeppelin.
