I think it is Oblt. Köppen. Check the caption on the front of the photo.
England BEUTE Panzer TANK.jpg
I have not yet found any mention of him. I suspect he might have been in 19 ID in the anti-tank company (14) of IR 73.

Much thanks, Steve

Hello Steve,
I think you'r right, it seems that it is oberleutnant Köppen, standing at the right of an English Vickers Light Tank on the 19th of may 1940 somewhere in Belgium ( maybe near Assche or Dendermonde)
https://picclick.de/853-Foto-England-BE ... 27492.html
I didn't found something about Oblt.Köppen in the Tessin. (band or volume 4)
Kindly regards
Prosper

Dear all,
I have been studying this piece from a Personalakte for a long time and managed to decipher it, but I keep on struggling with the grandfathers occupation and grandmother Pauline's last name. Can anybody help me out please? Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards,
Sven

Thanks Greg, spot on with Apotheker!

My initial thoughts were also Von Bareire but googling this name does not provide any hits, while every noble family in Germany can be found on the net. So I guess it must be something else, the question remains: what?

Any help from the forum community much appreciated!

Yes, it might as well be something else, but I got several hits in Rheinland-Westfalen address books, one from 1838.

I agree with both "Apotheker" and "von Bareire". There is absolutely no doubt.

Entry into the register of births, same source, but from 1827:

Ignore the first two lines, they´re from the previous entry.

Dear Greg, dear History1,

thank you very much! This is what makes this internet community so wonderful. Von Bareire it is.

The first of your scans was good, but the others were to unclear for me to decipher correctly after I tried to enlarge them a bit.

Thank you, much appreciated your time on this. Unfortunately these are the only scans I have of the diary and I don't have access to the original..
