Hitler's girlfriend? Well, that was a rumor in Nazi Germany and obviously some guys outside believed that. Of course she was never arrested by Gestapo. She never lost Hitler's grace.
But it was also told or a rumour that as a young actress she had affairs with men who could promote her career, f.e. Luis Trenker.

If she had wanted to sleep with people who would further her career she could have
easily done so with Franck and even Hitler but this didn't happen.
Being an single women and having an affair with an single man seems
quite a normal thing especially with people who have the same interests.

On their first meeting she did meet Trenker and
mentioned that she would be in his next film.

Trenker is also the person who forged Eva Braun's diary..
he was known to be an liar

THE SIEVE OF TIME..is a great read by Leni Riefenstahl.

So, did the arrest happen? Or Paris radio was spreading fake news?

Fake news (yellow journalism). Riefenstahl mentions no (Oct. 1939) arrest in her memoirs. She writes that after she returned from the front in Poland (Sept. 1939), she had a meeting with Hitler, to whom she reported a war crime she witnessed, and then started working on the "Tiefland" movie. I seriously doubt that she would miss to mention such a jucy detail as a Gestapo arrest in her nearly-700-page-long book, in which she didn't hesitate to mention any misjustice/mistreatment that she experienced. Also, as was already pointed out, she was never Hitler's girlfriend.

Cheers,
Ivan

This doesn't look quite right either

At the foot of Mount Olympus the German actress Fraulein Leni
Riefenstahl lit the Olympic flame and started the torch-bearers' relay
to Berlin.
A few hours before this event forty beautiful girls belonging
to high Athens society and members of the Lyceum Club left for
Berlin where they will parade and dance in ancient Greek costumes
throughout the Games.

Not right indeed. Some anonymous guy lit the flame, not Leni.

There's a great story about the 5th torch-bearer, by the way, whom Leni liked the most, because he had the classic Greek looks that she was after for her movie: it was a teenager named Anatoly, a son of a Russian emigrant. They took him [from Greece] to Germany, filmed the scenes they planned and became good friends. When it was time for him to leave, he expressed his wish to stay and start a film career. Since he didn't have a good acting voice, he eventually found a job as a technical artist in an airplane factory. When the war broke out, he volunteered for the Luftwaffe, but got rejected as a foreigner. He then volunteered for the Kriegsmarine and fought as a member of a U-Boot crew. He survived the war.

Well - that's a bit harsh don't you think? Not the same case at all as far as I know.

If you're interested in Leni and happen to be in Breisach this place is - from memory - in the main street. Amazing what you find wandering around these little towns:

Leni Riefenstahl died at age 101 but not before she married her long time
companion of 42 years Horst Kettner.

I suppose many wondered what he was doing with an woman so much older than
himself but it seemed they were great companions for each other. She left her
estate to Horst but life is strange he also passed away not long after.
eni Riefenstahl’s heir Gisela Jahn, once the controversial film-maker and photographer’s secretary, has donated her estate to the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation—a trove of photographs, films, manuscripts, letters, files and documents that date back to the 1920s.

Riefenstahl’s husband Horst Kettner died in 2016, leaving Jahn as the sole heir to her estate, which had remained in Riefenstahl’s house by Lake Starnberg near Munich. Jahn wanted the estate to return to Berlin as Riefenstahl’s birthplace.

The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, which manages Berlin’s museums, says it will raise funding to put together a team of researchers to view and organise the donation. The photographs in the estate will be stored at the Museum of Photography near Zoo Station, where Helmut Newton’s work has been shown since 2004. In later life, Riefenstahl was close friends with Newton and some of her letters to him are already on view in the museum’s permanent exhibition.

The foundation has “not only taken on ground-breaking aesthetic work with Riefenstahl’s estate, but also a particular responsibility for a critical appraisal of this controversial historical figure,” said Hermann Parzinger, the president of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. “Riefenstahl’s role in Nazism will be of central importance in handling her estate.”

Riefenstahl died in 2003, at the age of 101. She was best known as the maker of propaganda movies for the Nazis, including the infamously imposing Triumph of the Will, a portrait of the Nuremberg rallies in 1934, and Olympia, which celebrated athletes competing in the 1936 Olympic Games. Both films were noted for their pioneering cinematographic techniques as well as their powerful pro-Nazi messages. She could never escape her past association with Hitler’s regime, and turned to photography in later life.

Jahn donated the commercial rights to Riefenstahl’s work to the company La Tresor Kreativhandel managed by Holger Roost-Macias.

Can't help wondering what happened to everything that Jahn had no need of?
