Re: German Concentration Camps, Industry and War Crimes
Hello. Reports of the trials before the US Military Tribunal at Nuremberg ('Milch', 'IG Farben', 'Flick', and 'WVHA/Pohl') are available from the website of the US Library of Congress in PDF format. I think you will find them much easier to read than the links provided. Also, concentration camps and slave labour feature heavily in the USMTN cases 'RuSHA', 'Krupp' and 'Ministries', and the IMT trial.

Thanks, PFLB -- I use the site frequently myself. Interested readers can find it at http://www.loc.gov/rr/frd/Military_Law/ ... rials.html

Re: German Concentration Camps, Industry and War Crimes
No problem.
Also, for everyone's information that website has the Law Reports of the Trials of War Criminals compiled by the UN War Crimes Commission, which contains some other lesser trials dealing with concentration camps and German industry - 'Zyklon B', 'Belsen' (also deals with Auschwitz, since many of the defendants previously served there), and 'Dachau'.
The commentary also discusses (not in a great deal of detail, and only in a legal sense) a couple of the other 'parent' trials before the US Military Tribunal at Dachau - 'Flossenburg', 'Buchenwald', 'Mauthusen-Gusen I' (the other two not mentioned were 'Nordhausen', and 'Muehldorf'). Those parent trials are the most relevant in relation to the way a concentration camp functioned because their purpose was to establish the existence of a common design to commit war crimes ('conspiracy' in the popular vernacular). Subsequent trials, of which there were a couple of hundred, then needed to deal only with whether and to what extent the accused participated in this common design.
In fact all the USMTN cases deal in some way with concentration camps:
- Medical - human experimentation;
- Justice - how people were committed to concentration camps;
- Einsatzgruppen - Einsatzgruppen activities in purging concentration camps;
- High Command - camps under the control of army and army group rear area commanders (mostly POW's, although does discuss the illegal commitment of POW's to concentration camps); hiring out POW's as slave labour for German industry by the OKW;
- Hostages/Southeast - concentration camps, forced labour etc in Southeast Europe;

For those who are interested, some of the Reviews and Recommendations of the Judge Advocate General of the US Army in the European Theater are available on the Jewish Virtual Library in PDF format. The site includes (from what I can tell) all of the US Army parent concentration camp trials - viz Dachau, Buchenwald, Mauthausen-Gusen, Muehldorf, Dora-Nordhausen and Flossenburg - and most (possibly all) of the subsidiary trials, e.g. the Ebensee Outcamp Case.

Re: German Concentration Camps, Industry and War Crimes
Just saw a documentary entitled "Howling With the Angels" about the Czechoslovakian role in the war. It included some concentration camp footage of such things as bulldozers pushing emaciated corpses into mass graves, etc. As I watched, I couldn't help wondering how the holocaust deniers can gain any traction when there's such a vast amount of material actually SHOWING the genocide happening (German soldiers loading Jews onto cattle cars, etc.) and its gruesome aftermath.

One of two German propaganda photo-postcards produced depicting the "wonderful" and "reassuring" working conditions afforded to Polish forced workers at IG Farben Leverkusen:
