Russian TV series "War intelligence service: Northern Front"

This might belong better to an other subforum, but I post it here. I visited Riga few days ago and saw the Russian owned Ren TV Baltic channel broadcast the TV series "War intelligence service: Northern Front" (Военная разведка: Северный фронт). I watched only few short passages and don't understand Russian. However, it made me wonder if this is alternative history or disinformation.
It tells us about the formation of the crew of scouts and illustrates its actions on the Northern Front before the beginning of the Finnish war and during it. They will spy upon the actions of the Finnish artillery on the border with the Soviet Union and become unwilling witnesses of the first shot to home territory. They will detect a camp where German instructors train agents for infiltration into the territory of the USSR. They will also blow up the gateway to prevent flooding of the positions of our troops at the Mannerheim Line.

The whole series seems to be available in Youtube:

This TV movie can not be taken seriously. It is one fake among many others that have appeared recently and having nothing to do with the history.

Russian understanding of history has regressed to the level it was before Gorbachev in the USSR. It's sad.

This is typical of official pro-government "patriots". Not all Russians are of this point of view.

What about "Inglourious Basterds" as an American view on the history WW2? C'mon, fiction is just fiction.

Art, are you saying that the TV series is an alternative history drama like Inglourious Basterds? Or is the Russian gov't trying to rewrite history again?

I'm telling that the story is by definition fictional and it would be odd to take it a source of historical knowledge.

Prof. Timo Vihavainen mentions in his book "Itäraja häviää: Venäjän ja Suomen kaksi vuosisataa" (Keuruu 2011) p. 174 that there is Russian Federation law that makes history falsification a crime.

A compentent lawyer could create a case out of this one, eh?
Seriously!

Good luck with that. I'm just reminding that be the very definition Fiction is a story or setting that is derived from imagination—in other words, not based strictly on history or fact. Hence a fictional story in a book, film or TV series shouldn't be strictly historically accurate and shouldn't be taken as such by audience.

I wonder if this article published on the site of the television channel Zvezda is history or fiction.

Please read the last paragraph carefully: "The opinion, expressed in the publication of Leonid Maslovsky, is his personal position..." .Ryssä on ryssä vaikka voissa paistaisi (Russian will remain Russian, even he is fried in oil. Finnish folk proverb) :D

The Moscow State University professor Elena Senjavskaja has emphasized a strong influence of 'retrospective propaganda' on the collective historical memory of the people . For example, a propagandistic campaign undertaken by the Bolsheviks had changed the historical memory of the First World War in the interwar period...
Prof.Vihavainen also refers to Prof. Senjavskaja, remarking of the same fact.

Of course it is a two-way street.

Someone (don't know who) has noted "In Russia history is as unpredictable as the future". Sadly true.

Again and again: entertainment is not "history" and never was. If you interested in Russian historiography you should look for something else than fictional stories in TV series.
