Good morning,

photos about the so called "Great War" on the website of Rob Ruggenberg / "THE HERITAGE OF THE GREAT WAR"

Link: http://www.greatwar.nl/index.html

This website is probably already familiar to many here in the forum, but a small word of warning is certainly in order.
Many of the historical photos are disturbing, to paraphrase it carefully.
Each of us please form his own opinion...

My two german great-grandfathers Heinrich-Christian and Franz were active soldiers on the fronts of the First World War. I experienced my great-grandfather Franz in the 1960s, when I was a little boy, Heinrich-Christian passed away in the year 1947.
Franz in my memory an always grumpy old man, who enjoyed a glass of Schnaps every now and then.

The great-grandfather never talked about the World War, but after many frostbites, warmth was very important to the old man, Franz always sat very close to the stove in the small living room of the house.
The great-grandfather was a victim of the world war, and died very old in the 1960s.

I still remember his face, his expression, always very serious, Franz smiled or laughed very rarely, embittered.

Hans
