DK in Gold for Ace Jürgen Brandt - schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 501
Here is an important document from this unit concerning its combats as the Tiger company of 1. SS-Panzer-Division in 1943 through its transformation to schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 501 in 1944.

In a letter to me dated March 1, 1990 Werner Wendt stated that Jürgen Brandt died circa 8 AM on December 25, 1944 when outside of his Tiger II, an artillery shell striking nearby killed him.

After the 1. SS-Tiger company CO Heinrich Kling was wounded on July 10,1943, Jürgen Brandt took over his crew. Pictured here left through right: Radio Operator Wohlgemuth, Driver Heinrich Reimers, Gunner Karl-Heinz Warmbrunn, Gun Loader ?, and Brandt.

Just to add, Heinrich Reimers was killed in action as Wittmann's driver on 8.8.44. Image and graphic were created by me for my unpublished series Normandy Battles.Miles Krogfus wrote: ↑19 Nov 2018 03:31After the 1. See attached photo; some of the crew look familiar to Brandt's crew, actually Kling's before he was wounded. This photo is supposedly at Kursk, but have no other details. Thanks so much. French
