Berlin old photograph views...but where?
I found these in a book regarding the battle, but whereabouts in the city are they taken?
Re: Berlin old photograph views...but where?
I have already posted a query re your third photo here viewtopic.php?f=44&t=238543 and have had no joy. I originally suspected that it was taken near the intersection of Voss-Strasse and Wilhelmstrasse due to the strange and very undeutsch kink in Voss-Strasse but the windows on what should have been the Ministry of Transport don't add up, nor do the windows on the Wertheim building unless I am mistaken.

The color photo is from Hugo Jaeger collection. High resolution one should be available for a fee. This way we could read that signboard on the bottom/left which might help with identification.
Mannheim, this is Voss-Strasse photo:

Re: Berlin old photograph views...but where?
Thank you for the replies guys, I am not sure about Voss Strasse, with the help of Google, we could have 3 options?
The Stadtmitte area,Reinhardtstrasse or Franzosische Strasse.....all fought over and would have had Soviet photographers in the area

Re: Berlin old photograph views...but where?
Thanks, Greg! That is in fact the same photo I used for comparison and which made me doubt that the mystery photo is of Voss-Strasse (I've marked what I think are the salient differences - but not the damage to the Borsig Palais which is a bit hard to determine). If I had to guess I would suggest that the second photo may have been taken outside a railway station, given the large arch at extreme right. The photo is quite common so I'm hoping I'll come across it again with a caption. The colour one, IMO, is anybody's guess: Unter/Oberwasserstrasse? Friedrichsgracht? However, check out my photo taken from the Invaliden Friedhof over the canal separating Nordhafen from the Spree. There could have been any number of houses there.

Happy New Year Everyone!
My suggestion (80% sure) for a location of Führer, wir danken dir color photo is a Berliner Kraft- und Licht- AG (Bewag AG) office building at Schiffbauerdamm 22. Photo shows parts of Schiffbauerdamm 23 and 21 buildings as well. All three belonged to Bewag AG.
Today there is a car parking at this spot. Old electrical plant at the back of Nr.22 survived.
You can see that locations of stairs to the river level and a storm drain exit on a 1939 map match those on a photo.
It was taken from Marschallbrücke. Unfortunately I don't have any similar photos taken from that bridge in the same direction from the 1920-30's.

Re: Berlin old photograph views...but where?
Thank you guys for looking , a good piece of detective work Greg, I am spending my weekends reading up on the battle after visiting 3 times, I just keep finding more to look at and so must go back again!
Are there any battle maps locating the defence in some more detail or will I go by what I read?
Have a good weekend
PS Alexander have taken a look at Linienstrasse.....show me me more if possible
