My subject line encompasses both the actual French Resistance fighters and the others as per how the article's authors use the term.

It's a long article with emphasis on the era's morality and reasons for such. Authors ask readers to think how to use this history for contemporary matters.

What got my attention:

- two thirds of deported Jews were arrested by French police.
- one fourth local police arrests in Netherlands.
- 1 in 6 re Belgium.
