US Army Journal vs. Journal and File

Hi,

I see that the 90th Infantry division has "G2 Journals" from May to September 1945 and "G2 Journal and File" from June 44 to April 1945.
I know the G2 Journals, but I have not met a "Journal and File" already. Is there any difference?

The Journal and File (-2.2 or -2.3) will often contain G-2 periodic reports from other units. These can be subordinate or adjacent commands.

The G-2 periodic reports (-2.1) are the items most people look for. The G-2 Journal (-2.0) is usually a short index of received items or important items of note that happened.

The G-2 journal and file is often a great place to look for reports that are otherwise missing from adjacent commands. For example, the V corps G-2 periodic reports for Sept and later were missing from their box, but were located in the 1st Inf. division G-2 journal and file.
