Vehicle Line # 7
Effect Dice Roll 4 would have to be half or less than Vehicle line # for Burning Wreck
The LVT is Eliminated, Crew /then Passengers must each pass Crew Survival DR of 6 or Less

Ocean Hex Rules:
1. Leaders /SMC Hero: in Ocean Hex, May Not Direct or Add Leader /Hero Modifier to any Attack Dice Roll
a. Leadership Modifiers do apply to Morale Checks, Rally etc
2. Wading Infantry may not form Multi Hex Fire Groups
3. LVT 2 is an unarmored Vehicle, the Crew morale level is 6, equal to U S First Line Squad/
Unarmored Vehicle Rules crew Morale is that of a Nations First Line Squad/ U S 1st Line Squad Morale Level 6
Armored Vehicles: Crew Morale is that of Nations Elite Squad
4. Infantry Fire/MG Fire vs Unarmored Vehicle : affects Vehicle /Crew/Passengers
a. The LVT 2 is affected on the Vehicle Line Fire Power Column , per the Fire Power Factor of Firing Unit
example: FIre Power Factor of 6
b. Fire Power effect Dice Roll is Made: ex: 3+1=4 /Ocean Hex Modifier +1 = 5
The Vehicle Line # at Top of Infantry Fire Table/ 6 Fire Power Column is 6
The LVT 2 is put out of Action and turn over to Wreck side/ LVT 2 Crew and Passengers must then Pass Crew Survival Dice Roll # 6 or Less
then Placed beneath Wreck Counter subject to Hazardous Movement
5. IF LVT 2 is Not Destroyed /Effect DR of 7/6 Fire Power Column/Result in Morale Check//No Damage vs LVT 2 /Vehicle Line/The Crew and Passengers/In that Order Take Normal Morale Check/ Leaders First
Chekc
d. Crew Takes Morale Check First then Passengers/Leader First
e. If Crew Fails Morale Check, the Crew Abandons Vehicle and Vehicle may move no Further, Passengers may remain in Vehicle unless Brolen

Strategic Picture Tarawa: The Island of Betio,, represented a Key Strategic Position, and Airfield that controlled the Area for Hundreds of Miles in all directions. It also represented , a determining factor in the course of the War, If the Japanese Defenders held out.

Tarawa Scenario wrap:
1. Japanese Infantry, Level One- Level Two Positions with Machine Guns May fire over Cliff Hexes at Targets in Ocean Hexes next to those Postions.
Targets in Ocean Hexes may Fire Back at those Japanese Postions.
a. Guns May Not Fire Over Cliff Hexes to Lower Ocean Hexes Next to Gun Position, 1 or more Levels Lower
2. Wading Elements do not Take Pin Task Checks
a. May Not Form Multi Location Fire Groups
b. Leaders/SMC may not Direct /Apply Leader Ship Modifier to any Attack from Ocean Hex,
c. Leaders may apply to Rally , etc
3. LVT 2, Rules
a. LVT 2 are unarmored, Crew Morale Level is 6/Infantry Fire on Infantry Fire Table attacks vs Vehicles resolved on Vehicle Line,
affects Dice Roll effect is then , applied first to LVT 2, then Crew then Passengers,
Unless the Dice Roll Effect destroys the LVT 2, then Crew and Passengers must pass Crew Survival Dice Roll, if Survive, then placed beneath
the Wreck LVT 2
IMG_4547[1].JPG
The Japanese HMG/crew Level 2 may Fire at U S Unit in
Ocean Hex next to it, 9-1 Leader/ 667 Squad/ The U S Player could risk stacking more Wading Squads with Leader, Wading Squad each have 3 Fire Power
b. Crew must pass Normal Task Check, Dice Roll 6 or less if LVT is Immobilized/ If Fails NTC, Crew Abandons Vehicle/May Reman Vehicle Next
U S Player Move Phase
c. Crews while Manning unarmored Vehicle, Take Morale Checks , and if Fail Morale Check must Abandon Vehicle
Crews that have Abandoned Vehicle, that are subject to Fire Attack Morale Check, are then treated like other Ground Infantry units, and are subject
to breaking.
4. Crew always takes Morale Checks then Passengers vs Fire Attack that does not destroy the LVT
a. ex: The Japanese 4 FP MMG fires on LVT 2, at Point Blank Range , Fire Power 8, Infantry Fire Table Column 8, DIce Roll effect 3+4= 7
Fire into Ocean Hex +1 Total IFT 8 Fire Power Column/8 Line Effect result Normal Morale Check
b. The Crew would first take Normal Morale Check, then Passengers, Leader First, then Highest morale Unit to Lowest Morale Unit thereafter.
Crews that Fail Morale Check while manning Vehicle are NOT Broken, They Abandon Vehicle.
Infantry Leaders may not Apply Leadership Modifier to Crews manning the LVT 2/ 3 Machine Guns/ 14 Firepower

Japanese HMG with Crew Fire Power 6
Dice Roll attack 1+4 = 5 Fire into Ocean Hex +1 total 6 on Vehicle Line result = Vehicle Line # 6 on 6 Fire Power Column
If Fire Attack Dice Roll equals Vehicle Line, destruction #, the Unarmored Vehicle is Immobilized
Crew must Pass Normal Take Check to continue to man vehcile
a. If Crew Passes Immobilization Task Check
b. the Dice Roll effect 6 if now applied on 6 Fire Power Column/ 6 Line / 1 Morale Check vs Crew and Passengers
Crew now Take 1 Morale Check, then Passenger Leader First then Squads
IMG_4548[1].JPG
Turn One: Japanese Player Prep Fire/ HMG /Crew vs LVT 2 with Passengers/

Tarawa Part II:
After the Marines, had battled their way ashore, the Pier became a factor for supplies to be brought up much faster.
In the Pier area, the Japanese had a number of pillboxes that continued to cause trouble. One pillbox, with a rotating cupola, constructed of steel plate, hexagonal design like a salt shaker, 20 Feet Tall, covered by two other blockhouse type pillboxes.
The Japanese fortification of Betio, included tunnels, allowing Japanese troops to move into and occupy pillboxe positions behind the U S Marine Advance.
The U S Marines ,formed two Battalion assault Groups, with one to deal with the Pillbox Problem at the Pier, with the other Group to deal with a different
Pill Box problem elsewhere.
