After finishing Island of Fire and reading the 305th ID was based out of Upper Swabia (Ravensburg). I would like to know more about which Divisions recruited from which areas.
I have the Waffen-SS Encyclopedia by Marc Rikmenspoel and wondered if there is anything similar but for Wehrmacht

Yes, Order of battle books by Samuel Mitcham. But you are on axishistory and there is the feldgrau forums, which has this information.
