Sherwood foresters association
Is there an association for veterans of Sherwood foresters soldiers during WW2?

There is more than on organisation calling itself the Sherwood Forester's association. The Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry were a cavalry unit recruited from Nottinghamshire. There were also a lot of infantrymen - and even a few gunners. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherwood_Foresters
I think they may have closed down their association as the veterans aged, but there are records accounts and personal war dairies in the Nottinghamshre archives for anyone seeking further information.

The Worcester and sherwood foresters associaiton is still going http://www.wfraworcester.com/

The War diaries are free with association or former soldiers?
Re: Sherwood foresters association
The Sherwood Foresters didn't just recruit from Nottinghamshire, as they recruited around half of their personnel from Derbyshire. That's why their official memorial is at Crich Stand in Derbyshire (just a couple of miles from where I'm from), as that location gives views over the whole of their recruitment area. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crich#Memorial_towerSheldrake wrote: ↑13 Sep 2019, 09:53There is more than on organisation calling itself the Sherwood Forester's association. Re: Sherwood foresters association
As stated above, the association still exists. It is the Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Association.(WFR) Association. As the WFR is now part of the Mercian Regiment, and there is a Mercian Regiment Association, it would seem logical that the WFR Association will eventually be absorbed into it. It is likely though that the Association will simply die out as the remaining elderly members themselves die.
