Unknown TR Award/Badge Identification?

#1

Post by RHack » 01 Jun 2020, 22:01

Hi all,

I recently bought a small item for very little. It was described as a 'broken German badge'. It certainly looks like it has been modified in some way on the back.

It measures around 2.5cm wide/tall and has a decent weight to it for it's size. It is silver in colour, unfortunately the photos are a bit warm.

The only award I could find that matched the design slightly was the Gau Badge, except of course that this is missing the black enamel and wreath. However, the '1923' is pretty spot on for size. I very much doubt it is a remnant of a Gau badge though.

Any thoughts from the experts?

It's a rather poor reproduction of a center motif of a 1923 Gau Ehrenzeichen also known as Gau General badge.

Was thinking it might be, glad to have it confirmed.
