This series of 10 photographs depicting Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler's visit of state to Italy 3-9 May 1938 were scanned from Santoro, Cesare, "Hitler Germany, As Seen by a Foreigner," Internationaler Verlag, Berlin: 1939. The captions are from the original text:

The Time/Life book 'The Mediterranean' also has a fine photo essay of Hitler's 1938 visit with color pictures . Many of these pictures are there. Mussolini was trying very hard to impress Hitler because he himself was so impressed with his previous visit to Germany. During that time he brought Italy closer than ever to Germany and began his efforts to 'Prussianize' Italy. This is also when he enacted his ludicrous racial laws against Jews in Italy.
