The House Flag o Hausfahne, swastika flag.

As the Reich, the House Flag could be displayed on teh domicile of every German citizen of the Reich (Reich Flag Law of september 15, 1935).

Excluded from this "honor" were the jewish households and houses in which, in addiiton to "German-blooded" residents, a Jew lived (Flag Decree of December 7, 1936.

On march 18, 1936, the Wehrmacht first received a flag "bestowed" by Hitler that it might be accorded military honors; the soldiers´s oath of allegiance was sworn on it.

Looks like it was derived from the Imperial War Ensign.

the war flag? I don't think Germany uses a war flag anymore.

they were used on military bases, installations, at the front, and maybe on command vehicles too. on original flags the way you can tell if it was a navy flag or not is a navy stamp with eagle on the upper part of the pole side along the rope-loop/hoist (not certain of the correct terminology). mine simply has stamped "Kr. Fl. 200 x 335" which is short for "kriegsflagg" and it's dimensions, so you know it was heer & not kriegsmarine.

another thing about the kriegsflagg is that, unlike the civil flag, the swastika was not a seperate piece of fabric, so on the reverse of the flag, the swastika is backwards (always flying toward the hoist)

 No, the present national flag. I'm asking was that flag used before the 3rd reich and the whole swastika sha-bang.
