Tscherkessischer Zapfenstreich

Post by Ivan Ž. » 23 Nov 2020 22:03

I accidentally came across this impressive recording by Carl Woitschach's Band: "Tscherkessischer Zapfenstreich" (Cherkessian Tattoo), composed by German composer Karl Machts (1846-1903) in 1895, and dedicated to Siegmund Seeligmann. The composition also contains the beautiful melody of the Russian Imperial anthem "Боже, Царя храни!" (God Save the Tsar!). The recording was made on 13 April 1932, in Berlin.

"God Save the Tsar!" starts at 1:48.
