12 o'clock high and Angels 12

In in the process of writing the second in a series of WW2 based novels and need accurate information about the Luftwaffe.

The RAF and FAA used the 'CLOCK' system to designate where things were in the sky relative to their own position, did the Germans have something similar?

Ditto the use of Angels for designating height - what did the Germans use?

Thanks

Hi Mark in Cleveland,

I think you may be confusing today's American Federal Aviation Administration with the British Fleet Air Arm, which certainly did exist in WWII.

May I suggest a little light grovelling towards Franzi?

Cheers,

Sid.

Hi Guys,

I feel the love!

Seriously, though, Franzi's is an interesting question.

Did the Luftwaffe use the clock face system?

If not, what system did they use?

Did other nationalities have their own systems?

(What now we have had digital watches and clocks for decades?)

An intrigued Sid.

Hi Franzi,

An afterthought - have you tried the forum that is, coincidentally, called "12 O'clock High" on: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/

It specializes in the Luftwaffe.

Cheers,

Sid.
