Re: ID of Wehrmacht Officers (Non General)
Thanks. It seems to be a company of the 3rd Jäger-Btl. of I.R.19. They wear breast eagles, so the earliest possible time is mid 1934. I assume rather 1935/36.
Re: ID of Wehrmacht Officers (Non General)
Ref 19 IR-looking closer at the pic,he looks like wearing a monocle?
So I am looking for a resemblance to the future GL Dipl-Ing Richard John who
did wear glasses, he was serving with Reich War Ministry and 19 IR between April 1932
and Aug 1934.

Thanks, but it is not John. It seems, he was quite tall and the guy on the photo is rather small.

2 new photographs I bought. I thought that they could be 2 later OL-holders. General Walther Risse and Oberfeldwebel Josef Schneider!

Request for identification of Kriegsmarine officers
Hello everyone,
Can anyone help identify the Kriegsmarine officers in this photograph, please?
It was taken during the war at the Fort of Socoa (position Ba 59), which is in the bay of St Jean de Luz in south-west France.
Any help appreciated - many thanks,
Elise

Re: Request for identification of Kriegsmarine officers
The lighting is so bad that I'm going to say Rommel and Friedrich Ruge.
Re: ID of Wehrmacht Officers (Non General)
Hi,
Thank you for your reply - sorry for the quality of the photo. It was originally on ebay.de and the picture is also reproduced on wehrmacht64.canalblog.com, who identifies it as the Fort of Socoa in 1942. Rommel was obviously busy in North Africa at the time(!), but I do agree that it looks like him (left?) and Ruge (back to camera?). I am also trying to identify the third person in the group, but am unsure of his Kriegsmarine
rank (Korvettenkapitän?).
If it is Rommel and Ruge, this would therefore date the photograph to either February or April 1944, when Rommel apparently carried out inspection visits of the Atlantic Wall in the region.
