Hi oldhoweboy,

Yup. The submarines don't seem to be armed. My guess is that they are probably from 25. Unterseebootsflottille, which was a training unit based in Memel at this time.

Maybe U 1162 ex Italian S 10 in the center with a new compas house.
At left, it's an ex Italian too with an human face in front of the conning tower but wich ? U 428 ex S 1 ? U 430 ex S 4 ? U 430 ex S 6 ? U 746 ex S 2 ? U 747 ex S 3 ? U 748 ex S 5 ? U 749 ex S 7 ? U 1161 ex S 8 ?
At right, it's new to me to see a black circle a school emblem on a typ VIIc submarine. This emblem was on U 151, a typ IId.

U 101, U 560, U 28, U 579

This emblem - a black circle on a white background could be seen earlier on U 560 (I suppose), but this photo was taken in the autumn of 1942. In Nobby's photo this emblem is already on another boat, perhaps on U 612. As for other boats, I agree U 748 and U 1162.
