Tobruk position Seeziel-Batterie ''Scheveningen-Nord''

Post by robin-stahlbeton » 29 Mar 2021 15:46

Hi guys,

Recently visited the battery, and stumbled across a ringstand, behind the S 414. See GE map with the positions in it (Scheveningen-Nord.JPG).
Nothing strange so far, but on the siteplan itself, no tobruk was registered on this position.
We can only see a so called Feldkanonenstand, Verbandsplatzbunker and Wasserbehalter (Close-up-Nord.JPG).
I assume the bunker would have no connection with the hospital or water bunker.

Can anybody say if the tobruk was an intergrated part of the Feldkanonenstand (what isnt visible), or simply a structure on its own, and forgotten on the German map? The map dates 05-01-1944. A building list could explain as well.

PS. If anybody can say what the purpose was of this kind of ramp, it would be fantastic as well (Unknown-structure-1.jpg) :D

Rgds,

Robin

Robin,
We assume it is for unloading goods, like ammo.

hi robin,
your tobruk is certainly built before the leitstand. In many places often next to a peilstand or leitstand we find a tobruk. It takes over the function of observation or of controlling a battery for a given time.

Many thanks for the info. Still cant understand why the ringstand isnt on the map. But that can be a mistake somehow.
