Drugs taken by Göring

Post by Cantankerous » 19 Jun 2021 04:25

My dad told me that Herman Göring was a drug addict, but what drugs did Herman Göring become addicted to? It is possible that Göring's addiction to drugs contributed to decisions that allowed the Luftwaffe to be outmaneuvered and pummeled by the Eighth Air Force.

Hermann Göring, Hitler's closest aide, had served in the Luftstreitkräfte during World War I and suffered a severe hip injury during combat.
He became seriously addicted to the morphine that was prescribed to him in order to relieve the pain which resulted from this injury an
the gunshot wound, variously described as a thigh or groin injury, that he sustained while taking part in the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch in Munich.
n 1925, after consulting his wife, he entered a Swedish mental hospital for detoxification and treatment.
When Göring was captured near the end of the war, he was found to be addicted to dihydrocodeine and was subsequently weaned off it.

Göring - Eine Karriere (Three-part german documentary from the year 2006)

Good docu, worth to watch. A former ladyfriend of my grandmother, Frau H. (1916-2011) was a personal secretary of Göring in the then RLM in Berlin before 1945.
Frau H. was also a guest at the then wedding festivities with Emmy Sonnemann on April 10, 1935.
In later years the lady was a guest several times at Carinhall, etc.

I received all the lady's old documents long ago, and she made me promise never to publish any of the material.

P.S. Still at a very old age, the lady was a thoroughly convinced National Socialist, I noticed that in many conversations, not only once.
Es ist im Leben wichtig, viel zu wissen.
Manchmal ist es noch wichtiger, zu wissen, daß man nichts weiß.
