This photo shows the 8" turret on the Prinz Eugen having a single front-facing observation port on each side of the twin gun barrels.
This shows the Bismarck with dual stacked observation ports on each side on its 15" turret.
So barring the Germans showing stale footage from before the commissioning of Bismarck and Tirpitz (which was a distinct possibility, as in 1943 one Wochenschau passed off year(s)-old reels of an auxiliary cruiser/commerce raider happily hunting from 1942 or prior as if it were from a recent sortie), perhaps this Wochenschau Nr. 612 clip was showing the construction of the 15" turret intended to retrofit the Gneisenau?
