Widerstandsnest 94 Isigny
Hello,
I am looking for additional information on the Wn 94. Indeed from July 15, 1943, it is considered as an alternative command post for the benefit of Div.Stab.716, until March 1944. Former HKAA404 headquarters, I would therefore like to know if specific arrangements had been made there (telephone relays / exchangers, shelters / offices, accommodation, peripheral defenses, etc.).
Merci
AETIUS

Re: Widerstandsnest 94 Isigny
Ost-Btl.621 in the Isigny area is a mistake by Ziegelmann. He means Ost-Btl.439 in his FMS but got the number wrong. Don't know why.
Ost-Art.Abt.621 was further east under LXXXI.A.K. (AOK15). It moved there from Mielau in December 1943.
If there's somehow evidence to suggest otherwise I'd love to see it though

Re: Widerstandsnest 94 Isigny
Hello, Bonjour,
Following the reading of interrogations of members of Ost.Btl.439, a question calls out to me. If it is known that the 4./Ost.Btl.439 (Oberleutnant BIEGER) is well in reserve at the level of the Wn 94, another executive (Leutnant (r) Nicolai GORUSHIN) reports that the 1./439 is also. Until then, I had this one in coastal defense between the Wn 85 (Château de Géfosse, Stab) and the Wn 88. So it is about an error of this officer (it would not be the first to the image of Ost.Btl.621) ?
Regarding the staff of Gr.Rgt.914, my information gives me Neuilly-la-Forêt on the eve of D.Day.
Well taken for the 629. Moonraker, could you tell me at any chance if my information on the post "Wn 94 / 98a" about the Wn 99/100 are good or need to be change. Thanks in advance.
Regards

Moonraker, that map is from Ziegelmann (FMS B-432). It was drawn up from memory after his capture, possibly in 1945 or 1946. He got the number wrong.
A lot of maps in the Foreign Military Studies were drawn from memory after the war and understandably a lot have mistakes. Be very careful if you use them
Ost-Btl.621 only existed as Ost-Art.Abt.621 and was NEVER at Isigny

Re: Widerstandsnest 94 Isigny
Hi, the WN 94 was built on the property of a farmer who was evixted from his house in 1943. The place is called the halte du vey (old small railway station nearby) it has a bunker housing an anti-tank gun and 2 shelters for personnel (ost battalion 439). The position dominates the valley of the Vire river which flows not far from there into the bay of Veys, therefore into the Channel. About 700m. west of WN 94 is the Pont du Vey (road bridge) where the WN96 was located (machine gun positions of which nothing remains). To the south is another bridge (Caen Cherbourg railway). in 1944, several german soldiers refusing to surrender died in the bunker of WN 94 which the americans detonated after summons with the occupants. (maybe this is the reason why the bunker has cracks (photo of the bunker on another post)AETIUS 1980 wrote: ↑19 Aug 2021 05:43Hello,

Re: Widerstandsnest 94 Isigny
Hello and thank you very much,
here is the information I had gathered on the subject ;
_ Widerstandsnest 94 / K.V.U.Gr.Vire
Ruppaley North
Still in the planning stages on June 15, 1943, this support point was installed in the village of Les Veys. Ideally located (300 meters from the station hence the name of the place; La Halte du Veys), it becomes the headquarters of Stab.HKAA404 which coordinates all the artillery units on the western flank of the 716.Inf.Div. During surveys carried out in July on the possibility of moving the Div.Stab.716 in the face of possible threats, the Wn 94 is considered to be the only viable one facing the Baie des Veys. Following the transfer of H.K.A.A.404 to Cotentin shortly before December 20, 1943 (becomes for the occasion III./H.K.A.R.1261), the place will accommodate fractions of Gr.Rgt.726. With the rise in line of Ost.Btl.439, it established its headquarters there alongside 4./Ost.Btl.439. Still at the draft stage, we note the presence of only three constructions, only one of which has a defensive value. We therefore find a Regelbau.629 garage shelter for 2.5 cm Pak.113 (f) and two R.622 shelters which serve as a command post for the Ost.Btl.439. The remainder of the position is managed by means of countryside locations, a few trenches and a weak network of barbed wire.
_ Widerstandsnest 94a
Isigny
This fulcrum is the responsibility of the Kriegsmarine (see the chapter dedicated to the latter).
_ Widerstandsnest 95
Located south of Wn 96, this post controls the railway bridge to the south-east of the hamlet of St Sauveur, but also the Carentan-Isigny road axis. Rather, it is a question of guard at the sight of the figures of June 15, 1943; 1 non-commissioned officer and 6 men, with 5 rifles, 1 M.Pi, 1 Pistol and 1 le.MG.34. The mains material amounts to only 1 Handscheinwerfer. Beyond its garrison from the ranks of 4./Ost.Btl.439, an accessory defense will be provided by three pieces of 2 cm Flak.38 (gem.Flak.Abt (word) 497) which had to be raised in order to avoid being flooded.
_ Widerstandsnest 96 / 96a
This support point takes place at the level of the bridge over the hamlet of Auville (Pont de Lanquetot), controlling the passage of the current RN.13. Of a very small size, it is noted by its garrison of June 15, 1943; 1 non-commissioned officer and 7 men, with 6 rifles, 1 M.Pi, 1 Pistol, 1 le.Gr.W.36 and 1 le.MG.34. In fixed endowment, we find: 1 Handscheinwerfer and 1 Panzerbüsche 782 (e). Due to the extremely swampy nature of the soils, the Germans did not spend time designing fortified works on the site. Only three Feldmässige shelters, for the benefit of the troops, are split between Lanquetot (Wn 96) and the Pont du Veys (Wn 96a). The weak troop holding the place on June 5 belonged to 4./Ost.Btl.439.
I am going to associate the few information on the fighting of June 1944 with my works on it.
Always eager to learn about the subject.
