One way the Luftwaffe was superior-- Injection engine

Was the Lufteaffe really superior to RAF in a fuel injection design?
Why didnt RAF use a guel injection design in their engines?

In terms of injection, yeah, the Germans were pretty much ahead of most people, especially the Brits.

IIRC the British had some...Dubious trials with injection and carburetors and settled on the older reliable technology instead of the newer untested stuff.

I’ll let Sir Stanley Hooker tell you, quoting from his book 'Not Much of an Engineer'.

'Let me now add that the Germans paid a large penalty for their fuel injection. When the fuel is fed before the supercharger, as on the Merlin, it evaporates and cools the air by 25° C. This cooling enhances the performance of the supercharger, and increases the power of the engine, with a corresponding increase in aircraft speed, particularly at high altitude.' (p. 62)
Sounds like the British knew what they were doing.

This explains the mechanics and the history quite well

The British were behind the Germans. Certain maneuvers could not be performed by British aircraft due to a lack of fuel injection. This gave the advantage to German fighters with fuel injection. The penalty was paid by the British.

Hi
'Rolls-Royce Piston Aero Engines - a designer remembers' by A A Rubbra, RRHT Historical Series No 16, has the following reference the Merlin carburettor:

You can do that with an intercooler though, and injection gets you better fuel efficiency, basically ignores negative G's, better horsepower, and because the fuel input is more controlled it reduces knock and therefore you can increase boost.
