Hi Yuri,

Still shying away from the Mussolini-Putin/Greece-Ukraine military debacle angle, I see.

You post, "In the next post we will talk about how completely ultra liberal in the economy and ultra pro-Western in politics Putin imitates his Western partners in their predilection to bomb other countries, invade them, wipe cities and villages from the face of the earth, kill civilians, as well as hang and brutally kill unwanted leaders of these countries."

Wow, I bet Putin is glad you aren't head of his Public Relations Department! That is as damning an indictment of the man as I have ever seen!

Would you mind if I quote your bit about Putin also having a, ".....predilection to bomb other countries, invade them, wipe cities and villages from the face of the earth, kill civilians, as well as hang and brutally kill unwanted leaders of these countries."?

Cheers,

Sid.

Actually, looking through all the various photos of Mussolini bare chested, only a minority seem to come from a skiing event. Of the latter, only one shows anyone else bare chested, and they might be emulating Mussolini for all we know.
I would rather say Mussolini and his friends enjoyed themselves, had fun when bare-chested Putin was creepy from day one.

Actions of "the Western partners" were authorized by the UN. It's different when you do it in the name of humanity.

Hi wm,

Mussolini's birthday party certainly sounds as though it would be more fun than Putin's.

However, what they have in common is a propaganda stunt to portray themselves and, by extension, their regimes as the embodiment of masculinity. To me, in these photos they just look like semi-comical, posturing posers lacking the gift of true self awareness.

Cheers,

Sid.

Oscar Wilde said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. But if he is imitating mediocrity, where does that leave him?

Little men and friends in our circle have always been extremely searching and aggressive people.

The highest heels under the shoes, the loudest voice in any discussion, the fattest street cars, and the most beautiful women ever.
We physically bigger guys were more relaxed, a lot of fuss about nothing wasn't our thing.
And the more relaxed we were, the more exactly that irritated the short men, to the point of white heat, I remember all that very well...

For us a Camaro, or a Corvette, then the little man bought a Lincoln Continental Coupe, we drove a Mercedes 300, then it had to b a Bentley, and so on, an endless spiral...
Different values, different times, not good, you distinguished yourself by what you represented, not by what you really were.

Small minds all, full of inferiority complexes, and this spiral went on for many decades...

Out and over!

Hans
LOL. You okay buddy? Did a short man steal your girlfriend?
