Osttruppen in Western front 1945

Post by Sturmschwein » 13 Sep 2022, 23:54

Hello,

Were there any Osttruppen units still active on western front in 1945?

Information about Osttruppen individuals being attached to German units in western front would be also interesting. A lot of Osttruppen were attached to regular Infantry-Regiments in 1944.

To my knowledge these following units were still active on Western front in 1945.

Freiwilligen-Stamm-Regiment 3 (Ukrainians)
Freiwilligen-Stamm-Regiment 4 (Russians)
Ost-Bataillon 669 (Russians)
Wolga-Tataren-bataillon 627
Wolga-Tataren-Bataillon 827
Turk. Bataillon 782
One georgian company from Nachschub-Bataillon 612

I found most Information about Units from "Lexikon der Wehrmacht"

It would be very interesting to find anything more about this topic

Thanks!

Thank you for your answer. Very interesting case and example of a Unit in western front in 1945.

I am more interested in Osttruppen units or Individuals that were fighting on Western front in germany 1945 against allied troops. For example in Hürtgen, Ruhrkessel, at Rhein etc.

Freiwilligen-Stamm-Regiment 4 for example was in Eifel to my Knowledge

Here is an excellent, well-researched work on the subject. The author provides a brief history of each unit:

Muñoz, Antonio J. Hitler’s Eastern Legions: Volume II, The Osttruppen, 1941-1945. Bayside (NY): Europa Books, 2003. Pb. 96p. Illus. Maps. Dwgs. Tables. Glossary.

NARA T78 R413 frames 6381258-6381259
These frames belongs to the folder with schematic OOB of foreign troops for the period September 1943 - April 1945
