The ultimate fortification thread!
Hallo!
This is more like a challenge, rather than a question.
I`m now asking you to post every possible question you can ask about German ww2 fortifications. I know we have some members here which know a LOT more than most people know, so the questions is up to you guys!
If you wonder why concrete is gray, then ask!

I have a question for model builders on the forum. One of these days, I'm going to be able to be active in that, again. Is it possible to obtain plan layouts of different types of bunkers? I know that modeling just the outside is relatively easy. I've had a couple of ideas about doing inside views, but I've not seen anything that would help much.
Is that ?? good enough??

Hi
One of them was that it was in a fixed position if the tactical situation changed suddenly. Look at the way the Germans attacked the French bunkers in 1940.
If you get your infantry close enough to a bunker they are actually quite easy to destroy. The simplest way is to cover the bunker up with a bulldozer and just drive on, leaving the unhappy inhabitants to their own fate…

Are there any examples of a force bulldozing an enemy bunker?

weaknesses of bunkers
Hello all,
About bunker's weaknesses - I was wondering, if construction of large Panzerwerks in OWB and Westwall made any sense. A huge structure, with two or more floors, often connected with underground system. All this armed with 2 or 4 pieces of MG 34 ( max. 2 sechsschartenturms) , flamethrower, which apparently was NEVER used (I've heard, that crew was afraid of this weapon, because of some technical problems). Overall, everything was a good target for aircraft. I think that although armoured cuppola gave a good protection against artillery (some examples of it gave Erik E on this forum), I doubt if MG-s inside were still operational after heavy artillery attack. What do you think about it?
regards
