Re: The ultimate fortification thread!
Hello
Alex - as far as I know it is not possible to acces the leitstand, all entrances are bricked up - if you are thin enough it might be possible to go through the slit in front.
Some text and pictures here, also a lot of other sites in Norway here:

Alex it's a real SK. It does feel a bit like a 636. Haven't measured it.

Re: The ultimate fortification thread!
Here is a post-war norwegian drawing of the Varnes site.
The dashed line is the leitstand, 15m above the tunnel/kasematte-level (except for the dome-like roof over the observation-room, there's no similarity with a R636).
More photos are posted at http://www.kystfort.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=334

Re: The ultimate fortification thread!
Hello all. If I may ask, does anyone know of any period photographs of the Falkenhagen Bunker? I figure the Germans probably would not have documented its construction during the war considering its sensitive nature, but perhaps the Soviets did... after all, since the bunker was stripped bare by them I suspect they had to have documented the find, right? Much obliged.
There are three sorts of people; those who are alive, those who are dead, and those who are at sea.
