American Nazis

Post by reichpilot » 18 Aug 2003 20:52

Did anyone see the show on American Nazi's last night on the History Channel? I found that a very facinating show. I had NO idea it was to the level it was at here in the U.S. AND it was growing! I also never knew (I thought it was Japs only!) that some Germans as well as some Italians were also put into 40 camps here until after the war. The Nazi headquarter camp (not the internment camp) they showed was about a 20 minute drive from where I lived in New York. 40,000 people a weekend attended the camp. There was too much for me to type, but if it shows again, be sure to watch it.

My Dad showed me a building a few towns away from where I live that used to be a Wisconsin Nazi Party hangout in the 1930's. Pretty interesting.

There weren't any 'famous" names mentioned. It pretty much named the people who were involved, but none jumped out at me as a known name. Do a search for "Camp Siegfried" which was located in Yapank, L.I., N.Y.

This wasn't mentioned in the show, but it's information I have on Henry Ford.

HENRY FORD, founder of the Ford Motor Company

• The Nazi connection: Ford, an outspoken anti-Semite, was a big donor to the Nazi party.

• Helping Hitler: Ford allegedly bankrolled Hitler in the early 1920s, at a time when the party had few other sources of income. In fact, the Party might have perished without Ford's sponsorship. Hitler admired Ford enormously. In 1922, The New York Times reported, "The wall beside his desk in Hitler's private office is decorated with a large picture of Henry Ford. In the antechamber there is a large table covered with books, nearly all of which are translations of books written and published by Henry Ford." (Hitler actually borrowed passages from Ford's book The International Jew to use in Mein Kampf). The same year, the German newspaper Berliner Tageblatt, a Hitler foe, called on the American ambassador to investigate Ford's funding of Hitler, but nothing was ever done. Ford never denied that he had bankrolled the führer. In fact, Hitler presented Nazi Germany's highest decoration for foreigners, the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, to Ford.

Did Ford and Hitler ever meet in person?

I want to say they did, but I may be thinking of someone else. Let me see if I can find something on it.

I remember reading a reference that Getty (Oil Baron) had a rascist side and was very anti semitic.

Evidently he too was an early supporter of the Nazis but later, like Ford..."changed his Tune"

I cant remeber any of the details to the story though.

i read that prescott bush was an early supporter of hitler, gave money and helped with contacts. i don't know if this is a true story or just bush bashing . not that i'm against bashing bush, inc. but let the bashing be truthful.
