Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Hello
I had a look in Dorr's book and the photo is assigned to Radermacher. Given the short range between the bestowal date of the DKiG and the NKS ceremony in Ulm, it is likely that Radermacher hasn't received the DK when he attended the ceremony in Ulm. He might also have received the DK from Himmler on this specific date.
I suppose that Radermacher was automatically awarded the DKiG after he received the NKS, as per HPA orders.
Regards
Denis

Hi Denis!
Many thanks for the info. The Kdr. of the 21. ID in May, 1944 was Generalleutnant (later Gen.d.Inf.) Hermann Foertsch. The only pic that has ever surfaced of H. Foertsch shows him wearing glasses and looking down, so it's hard to be 100% sure whether this is him.
Regards,
VJK

The unknown RKT from the Gebirgstruppe is Max Hochleitner who is listed as being awarded the RK on 05/05/45 [Biblio Verlag KC series, Gebirgsjäger]. However, he is not listed by Fellgiebel in his book and he is consequently not officially recognized by the OdR as a RKT. Not listed and not mentioned in the book by Scherzer, 2005 / AHF id (see next page for a better pic)
