Re: Knight's Cross Holders Identification
Here's the state of play of the Okrent / Weidhofer / Reichold case.
With the id of Otto Reichold on page 283 by Someone from Kharkov and the estimated clarification of Okrent and Weidhofer we had some time ago, the case isn't a "case" anymore if everything was and is correct.
Wilhelm Okrent
Wilhelm Okrent
Otto Weidhofer
and Reichold on the previous page
Looking at those photos and considering several aspects my point of view is that in fact the photos show three different persons. My first and main argument with regard to Okrent was, that he didn't reach the rank of "Oberfeldwebel". So, this shoud be a very easy question and conclusion : all "Ofw. photos" can't show Okrent. Another thing I stumbled upon these days - facing a hint by a colleague - is the "Nahkampfspange" ; Okrent didn't receive the Close Combat Clasp if I'm correct (Richtkanonier with the panzer artillery !). A third thing noticed these days : the lips clearly distinguish the three men in my opinion.
Best regards
Bernd

Hello, Fangio, Bernd and others,
On Page 15, 36jpg is a depiction of Hans Luthardt. Not sure this was id'd.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Jürgen Gauß, KC: 28.03.1945, Hauptmann, Führer einer Kampfgruppe der 12. Panzer-Division / AHF id
Still open for discussion are the 4.. turret numbers, maybe the II./PR 29 was inofficially renamed I./PR 29 because the I. Abteilung obviously was not about to return to the Division !?
