I will confirm your question about the id of Foto 35 on Page 303 as that of Kurt Loewer.

Also, your post about the supposed id of the pic listed as Gotthard Fischer, is a picture of General Herbert Loch.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

Terry
The same in my eyes! Thank you!

The general standing next to FM Rommel is Generaloberst Hans von Salmuth.

PS. A possibility, and I stress that, may be a pic of Walter Kalkhoff, as opposed to that of Martin Steglich. I am not sure that Kalkhoff made officer's status, but given the date of his award (1940) and the fact that he survived the war, would strongly suggest that it may be he. It is difficult to see, if his shoulder boards contain the two pips of a Hauptmann, as Steglich was at the time of his award, or none which would strongly suggest Kalkhoff. Your thoughts?

Terry
Hello, there is a postcard of Kalkhoff. Perhaps anyone has the kindness to add it. I don't collect postcards. And I don't have a photograph of him.

Hello, docarchiv,

Many thanks for your response. I do have a copy of the postcard depicting Kalkhoff, but I am not very knowledgeable as to how to add pix to this forum. It seems very complicated to me. The only thing different in the postcard of Kalkhoff and your picture, is the hair. As an enlisted man, Kalkhoff wore his hair long and he had a large shock of hair.

In your picture, he is shown with a haircut. But the facial features do suggest Kalkhoff as opposed to Steglich. But the differences are so small as to be almost insignificant.

Take care.

Scherzer writes that he was Oberfeldwebel at the end of the war.

Hello, docarchiv,

Many thanks for the clarification. Well, then I am at a loss as to who it may be. It seems somewhat odd to me that he would have remained an Oberfeldwebel until the end of the war when he held that rank for 5 years without a promotion. Many others with the Knight's Cross were promoted on the spot.

Anyway, I have offered my opinion and if you or anyone else establishes the id of the officer, I would be very interested in knowing who it is.

Thanks, again.

Take care.

Terry
